To the uninitiated, the building process of building a custom home can be a daunting and mysterious process. Most people venturing into the acquisition of a new home are embarking on the largest personal financial commitment that they have made to date. All of this added together can give people reasonable cause to want to understand what they are getting into before they commit themselves. The average home in our area has over 40,000 individual parts, involves the skill of between 85 and 120 suppliers and contractors, and demands over 4,000 on-site workers hours to make the dream a reality. One of my early mentors in this business, once said: “The construction business is a very complex choreography of a gazillion simple tasks.”

With this in mind, the best way to understand the process is to break it down into individual parts. We look at the construction process as being made up of 10 main elements that are tied together in various ways.

At John Piazza Jr. Construction and Remodeling we pride ourselves on our many remodeling projects consisting of Kitchen, bathroom, decks, additions, and re-siding of homes. We recognize that remodels are very invasive to the homeowner, so we try to minimize the impact to your home and life as much as possible. Remodels of kitchens and bathrooms are the ones that are the most difficult for homeowners, this is where people spend the majority of their time. Since remodels are a large part of our business, we are always refining our process to ease remodeling stress. John Piazza Jr. Construction, Inc. is now a CAPS certified company (Certified Ageing in Place), from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). CAPS Certification means we specialize in design planning & remodeling homes which will allow homeowners to remain in their homes as they age and need additional elements within their home to be more comfortable. Many clients purchasing homes are also contacting us to do the work before they move in.

With Cities constantly changing their rules, limiting their growth, and the shortage of building lots, many people are taking advantage of remodeling their current home. We have convinced clients not to spend their money on a new home, but to invest in their current home by asking a couple of key questions. Start by asking yourself these questions. Question #1, Do I like my current home? If the answer is “Yes, but I wish my kitchen was more functional, I would like a nicer master bathroom, or I wish my house had a better flow”. Question #2, Do you like your current location? “Yes, we love our neighbors, we like the school the kids are attending, and we are close to town. So, the bottom line is if you love almost everything about your home and the location, and you would be completely happy with a couple of modifications, let us remodel what you currently have.

Quite often when you sell your home you actually downgrade because lots are smaller making neighborhoods feel crammed. The house may be larger, but the products are of lesser quality and your monthly payments are the same or greater.

John Piazza Jr. Construction has done all types of remodels from entry door change-outs to whole-house remodels. Our remodel process is very similar to our custom home process. We can help you with your design, budget, and product selection so you can stay within your budget. The world of construction is always changing, so we do our best to stay with or ahead of the curve on building techniques as well as products.

John Piazza Jr. Construction’s remodeling division is headed by Mike Yarrow. Mike is also a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) and can help design and build your remodel to comply with these specialized requirements.
